Detroit Swindle announce Haloween Show at Freedom Mills

October 15, 2019

Following on from their sold-out show at last March in Leeds, ‘Detroit Swindle’ are set to return to Leeds once again on the 25th October. Hailing from Amsterdam, Electronic duo ‘Detroit Swindle’ have certainly cemented their status as forerunners in the European Music scene in recent years. A swell of releases on their independent label ‘Heist Recordings’ quickly garnered international recognition and served to accommodate their meteoric rise since the two started the project in 2011.

Creating their unique sound based on both sample heavy tracks and live recordings, their eclectic influences range from French disco to Motown to Detroit house. This has culminated in a constant flurry of undeniably funky and energetic performances; their live shows act as a melting pot for their diverse influences to be showcased – and as the duo state they will play anything ‘as long as it puts a smile on your face’.

A mutual love for classic house brought the two together, yet with a forecasted three hours behind the decks, expect the twosome to touch upon everything from Brazilian Disco to funk – this should be a staple part of any music lover’s plans for the next few weeks.

The industrial event space ‘Freedom Mills’ is the setting for their highly-anticipated return to Leeds, the venue itself continues to re-assert its indelible mark on the live music scene in Leeds. The renovated Victorian warehouse has become a staple part of the city’s nightlife since its reopening two years ago; this is something clearly evident after the large-scale crowdfunding efforts of the public to restore the club after severe flooding rendered the club unusable some years ago.

The venue now regularly welcomes some of the best DJ's from around the world which is testament to the owners and punters never say die attitude,  who fought relentlessly to preserve the venue. It's a comeback story that could have only happened in Leeds, a city that values electronic music like no other. This show is set to be part of a series of nights the venue is putting on over the next year, welcoming a plethora of Artists and DJ's to Leeds.
